Chờ đợi mãi một ngày không hết

trời tháng giêng mà rét như mùa đông

bên cạnh nhà có người con gái

chờ đợi ai như thiếu phụ trông chồng

      Chờ đợi thời gian sao dài quá đỗi

      mà đời người ngắn ngủi với thời gian

      và ta sống một kiếp đời thống hối

      đò không về trăng vẫn cứ sang ngang

Một sáng thức dậy thấy đòi còn đẹp

mặt trời hồng và mây xanh xanh

cũng một sáng nào qua con ngõ hẹp

không có khoảng trời,có tường vây quanh

      cho dẫu thế mà đời vẫn đẹp

      có đợi chờ có nhớ có thương

      cơn gió lao xao hàng cây rụng lá

      cây dẫu trơ cành còn hứng giọt sương

Lũ chim yêu nhau sợ trời giông bão

loài người yêu nhau sợ đời dối gian

con nước yêu bờ sợ dòng khô cạn

gió yêu cánh buồm sợ thuyền sang ngang

     Chờ đợi mãi một ngày không hết

     mây cứ xanh và cây lá vẫn xanh

     chiều về con chim còn hót trên cành

     và mỗi tối mặt trời đi ngủ muộn

Ngày nào đó ta rời xa phố núi

chẳng còn gì còn lại những dấu chân

ngày nào đó ta không còn dong ruổi

ngồi bên giáo đường nghe tiêng chuông ngân.
